Welcome!
This page is for occasional notes, stories... whatever!
and will be updated irregularly unlike the gig page which I will try to
keep up to date with as gigs come in.
April 2006
I've been having problems with this site for quite a while and couldn't
get anything uploaded. Some of the problems have been sorted out and I'm
attempting again!
Thanks to my friends, Joyce McLeod and Pete Wood, I've been able to begin
putting some of the reel-to-reel and cassette tapes in my collection onto
CD format. Record albums, too! It's a time consuming activity - but I
have a lot of time ahead of me and it's a pleasure, most of the time,
to listen to this music again, much of which hasn't been heard by me in
years.
I'd like you to make a note of this date and event:
Saturday 14th April 2007
CELEBRATING CYRIL: a day to celebrate the life of Cyril
Tawney 1930-2005
This will be held at Cecil Sharp House. It is in the planning stage at
the moment but already many of Cyril's old friends, including myself,
have signed up to perform, talk, and do whatever we can to make this a
true celebration of one of the finest singers and song-writers to grace
the folk music world in the past fifty years. I hope you will all do your
best to be there.
Some friends have told me that they can't find the site when they look
for via Google, or the other search engines. I tried myself and gave up
after the first 20 pages. I didn't know there were so many references
to me on the Web. Anyway, my web-master, Ken Lees is looking into it and
hopefully it won't be a problem for very long.
Thank you for your patience.
Louis
